OJJDP Access to Justice Project

Access to Juvenile Justice: The Rural and Tribal Southwest

CJDC is thrilled to have been chosen by the Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention as one of two locations in the nation to act as a regional resource center and study access to juvenile defense in rural and tribal regions in the United States.

In cooperation with the Southwest Juvenile Defender Center, CJDC will study access to juvenile defense counsel in the Southwest Region (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico), make recommendations to improve access to justice for youth in these regions, and provide training to attorneys practicing in these regions to ensure access to quality juvenile defense.
